Why I’m Putting Myself on a Spending Ban + Decluttering

by

It’s hard to save money, even if you try. Sometimes things just pop up and all of the money in your savings account is gone. Or, maybe you just have a spending/hoarding problem like I do.

I thought I’d go through my beauty collection (this is just makeup, I may do a hair care/body care post if you lovelies seem interested) and share with you what I have and why I don’t need to buy anything else to put into my collection. (I’m trying to hold back my tears right now…I love makeup.)

2016-07-06 11.30.15

Here are my makeup removing products! I use coconut oil, a micellar water and makeup wipes. I’ve had this jar of coconut oil for quite a while now and still have a lot of it. I use it to remove stubborn eye makeup (I have used it on my face as well), as a shaving cream alternative (if I ran out) and as a moisturizer. It’s a multi purpose item that I can’t live without. It’s inexpensive and doesn’t get used too quickly, so that’s why I don’t need another makeup removing product. Next is the Cactus Micellar Water from Pacifica. I really like this stuff to remove my foundation then follow up with a cleanser to deep clean the skin. It’s easy, provides a great clean, tones the skin and leaves you feeling refreshed (definitely do not use this on your eyes though). While I do love the micellar water so much, I’m not sure if I’ll be repurchasing it since it’s not a necessity because I do have other options to clean my face (like my Clarisonic, cleansers and coconut oil). I guess I’m also trying to cut down on the products that I have. And lastly, makeup removing wipes. I like  these a lot for when I’m doing swatches and removing my eye makeup, I do not like using these all over my face though since they leave a greasy feel. I do have two packs unopened, so that’s another reason why I don’t need another makeup removing product at the moment.

2016-07-06 11.32.13

Here are my face products, including foundations, primers and concealers. I have two primers at the moment, both from Too Faced. I have a sample of the Primed and Poreless, but I’m not a huge fan of it so it usually stays in my drawer. The Hangover primer on the other hand is my go to, but it is expensive, but so so worth it. I really only use it if I know I’ll be out all day to help it last longer for me! I don’t really wear foundation that often (so I’m not sure why I have two different ones…actually make that three, I forgot to add in my bareminerals). Lately, I’ve just been busy with work and on my days off I usually just hang around the house so I haven’t had much use for these foundations this summer (which is why I don’t need another, I need to stop eyeballing the Born This Way foundation from Too Faced ASAP!) I also have a white foundation to use as a mixer to make a shade light enough for my complexion. I have three skin tone concealers and one color corrector. I like the NYX one the most, since it’s light enough for my skin and gives a natural look. I feel like tarte’s oxidizes, so I don’t use it too often. The itCosmetics one was a sample that my sister passed on to me since it was too light for her – I haven’t tried it (yet again, another reason why I don’t need anything else!) The color corrector is from L.A. Girls and works well, I just don’t use it too often so I don’t need to buy a color correcting palette like I want to. I have one setting spray at the moment (hasn’t been opened) so I’m good in that department too. Mental note: Raeanne…no more face products.2016-07-06 11.32.24

2016-07-06 11.34.17

Alright, here’s my mascara collection (it was larger, but I did purge my makeup when moving back home from school). I have THREE Better Than Sex mascaras…THREE. Why do I need three!? Ugh. I first tried the BTS mascara as a sample and really liked it, so my sister decided to buy me another sample for Christmas – I haven’t touched the one she got me yet. I bought the waterproof version just to see if it would hold my curl better (it does) but I really don’t know why else I bought it, since I already have two that have barely been touched…I have no logic people! I have a mascara from Flower (this is like their 3-in-1, you can turn the dial and the wand moves/twists). I’m not a huge fan of this mascara since it’s so flakey, so I’m not even sure why I still have it. *sigh*. I have one from wet n wild that I use on lazy days/no makeup days. I’m also not a huge fan of this mascara either, but I do like the small wand for the lower lashes. I might end up tossing the Flower and the wet n wild mascaras since there is no point in keeping them. Then lastly, tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara sample. I got this in my skin squad discovery kit and I really like it. It gives a different effect than the BTS and that’s why I will be keeping it in my collection (plus, it’s relatively new to me too).2016-07-06 11.34.31

2016-07-06 11.35.41

Here are my eyeliners – which is another thing that I don’t wear all too often. I have three liquid black liners, two are fine line ones that dry matte and another has a vinyl finish which I’m not a fan of. I think I’ll keep the two fine liners and get rid of the Milani one that I don’t really like! I have one black pencil liner from Marc Jacobs that I got as a free gift for my birthday from Sephora, I think I’m just going to keep it to have incase I want to wear it. I have the NYX Wonder Pencil which is a nude liner, not sure why I have this because I don’t use it either. I also used it on my lips, so I don’t want to use it on my eyes. Might as well go in the trash! I have a dark blue pencil liner from Sumita that I got in a past glambag, haven’t used it but it’s going to stay in my collection just in case. I have two liquid liners from wet n wild, a bright blueish-purple and a dark blue liner. I like the bright blue and I have yet to experiment with the dark blue one – I will be keeping them since I don’t have anything else like them. The last two liners are from the Balm and Colourpop – they’re pretty similar in color but I like the formula from Colourpop way more. I’ll be keeping both of them. But here’s why I don’t need another eyeliner! They aren’t on my “top shelf” for everyday makeup.

2016-07-06 11.39.28-1

Lipsticks galore. As you can tell, I really like nude lip colors…infact I have way too many that look similar! I definitely will not be getting rid of any of my lipcolors, while I have a lot, I love them all. So I have quite a large collection from Colourpop, 3 ultra matte, 5 ultra satin, and 6 lippie stix. I love them (besides the matte ones), even though I have some colors that look similar. I have 4 soft matte lip creams from NYX and I like these, so I’m keeping them. I have two butter glosses in the same shade from NYX, not sure why I have two but I don’t really wear glosses much anymore. I’ll still keep them though just in case. I have one NYX liquid suede which I like and I don’t have a color *too* similar to it, since it shows up more burgundy/brown on me. I have two samples of Too Faced melted lipsticks – love them so they’re staying. In the white and pink box is a lip shimmer from My Sister (every purchase helps fight sex trafficking!) that I will be keeping since I don’t have anything else like it. I have two wet n wild lipsticks that I will be keeping cause I like them. I have 5 samples of some lip colors from different brands – keeping them and I hopefully will be able to use them up. A lip gloss from Ecco Bella in Peace is also staying with me, I want to try it out and see if it’ll be similar to a metallic lip – I’ll keep you updated. Lastly, a chubby lipstick from Profusion cosmetics that I will be keeping also because it’s the perfect everyday nude. BUT, in conclusion – I do not need another lipstick! I definitely need to stop buying shades that I already have ones similar to and I really need to start wearing lipsticks more often.

2016-07-06 11.43.01-1

Here are all of my single eyeshadows. All of the ones on top were from glambags or other subscription services. I’m trying to use those ones up ASAP since they’ve just been collecting dust. I might challenge myself to use one of them for however long it takes to use it up. The Colourpop ones are new to me and are staying in my collection, but I really don’t need to buy myself another eyeshadow palette because I definitely have enough to last me a while.

2016-07-06 11.45.45

Here are my eyeshadow palettes! As you can see, I like nude colors again. I really do not need another eyeshadow since the collection I have between palettes + singles is large enough. I have a lot of similar colors so I will do my best to hit pan on some of them.

Yikes, I really didn’t realize how much makeup I had until planning this post. It’s actually shocking thinking about how much money I’ve spent on makeup (and I really don’t want to take a calculator to add it up).

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my post and maybe learned something (like the fact that you don’t need 20 different nude lip colors in 5 different finishes). You also don’t need anymore neutral eye palettes – so don’t fall for the hype anymore!

Thanks so much for reading (as always) <3

My Favorite Cruelty Free Products Under $10

by

crueltyfree-under10

Hey lovelies! I’ve been kind of in a blogging funk lately, but I’m working on it. I’m trying to have back up posts so that when I really can’t think of what to blog, I can just post those instead. I’m thinking about either making a video or a blog post (or both) about why I want to go on a spending ban (mainly for beauty products), does that sound interesting to anyone?

But anyways, here I’m going to show you a few items $10 and under that I love and that are cruelty free!

Milani Prep + Set + Go Transparent Powder ($9.99)

I bought the Milani powder a couple months ago to replace a non-cruelty free translucent powder that I had and I really really love it. It’s a great setting and mattifying powder that doesn’t overdry the skin. I try to focus this underneath my eyes to set my concealer, just because if I put it all over my face it does make it feel dry and tight (but I think that’s just because I have such dry skin). I think it would be great for those of you with oily skin or if you have an issue with your makeup sliding off.

Hask Hair Bamboo Oil Shampoo + Conditioner ($6 each)

I love love LOVE Hask’s products and now my sister has found a new love for them too. I love how inexpensive their products are. The quality is absolutely superb for what you pay and I don’t think I’ll ever switch to another hair care brand. I’m currently using up the Bamboo Oil collection that I have and I think I will be purchasing the Keratin collection once I use this set up!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream ($6) Stockholm is pictured above.

NYX is extremely affordable and they have a wide variety of products. I’m a huge fan of their lip products, especially their soft matte lip creams. They have decent lasting power and come in a ton of different colors. I love them because they aren’t drying on the lips and aren’t too matte (to the point where you have cracking lips). I think they’re a staple lip product.

Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter ($8) Stole The Show is pictured above.

Colourpop has been one of my go to brands lately, because of their price and quality. I picked up one of their highlighters and fell in love and now I’m always reaching for it. They have a ton of unique colors and a couple different finishes so I definitely think they’re worth checking out!

Pacifica Kale Detox Face Cleanser ($10)

Pacifica is my favorite skin care brand. They have masks, cleansers, and moisturizers and they even have some makeup products. I love love love their cleansers because they aren’t too drying on the skin, they smell great & they do their job. Definitely worth the money!

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip ($6) Echo Park is pictured above.

Again, I love Colourpop and their Ultra Satin Lipsticks are my go-to now. I have a couple different colors from them and I love every single one of them. I feel like they’re super wearable and comfortable on the lips (I didn’t like the ultra mattes – so these are the bomb.com.)

What are your favorite products under $10? Let me know in the comments below 🙂

Hope you enjoyed the post & thanks for reading <3

My Skincare Routine

by

2016-04-13 10.24.15

Sorry again that it’s been a while! I’m still trying to get caught up on work but yet procrastination seems to be winning. Since the semester is winding down and my stress levels are rising, I have to take extra care of my skin to make sure that it’s clean and taken care of completely. I have dry, sensitive and acne prone skin (although my breakouts are minor, I hate them since the redness really shows). Above are the products I use and I’ll tell you how I use them!

2016-04-13 10.21.15

I need to moisturize my face every morning and night, if I don’t I will end up regretting it. I picked up this Pacifica Dream Youth Face Cream from Ulta and I love it. It’s a thicker cream, so a little goes a long way. It feels so refreshing on the skin and smells amazing.

2016-04-13 10.21.54

When I saw this Pacifica Quinoa Sensitive Face Wash, I immediately had to pick it up. I love the fact that it has anti-inflammatory support since I do struggle with redness, from my acne spots and just minor irritation. It makes my face feel super clean without drying it out or irritating it. Depending on how bad my skin is (or timing) I’ll use it on my Clarisonic or I’ll just use my hands, both work well but I do prefer the Clarisonic if my skin is really bad.

2016-04-13 10.23.022016-04-13 10.23.31

I love my Clarisonic Mia 2, and can you guys tell that blue is my favorite color? 😉 I got this a couple years ago from my amazing boyfriend Tyler for Christmas. It’s been a game changer. I use it once or twice a week, I can’t use it more than that since my skin is so sensitive. I want to try a different brush attachment to see if it would be gentler on my skin. It is kind of bulky, so I do wish I had one of their new ones but it works perfectly fine.

2016-04-13 10.22.04

I clearly love Pacifica’s products too. This is their Cactus Water Micellar Cleansing Tonic. It removes stubborn makeup without needing to rinse it off afterwards, which I like. It also tones your skin which is also a plus for me. Annnnd it doesn’t dry out your skin like other toners do. I use this on a cotton round to remove my face makeup before going in with my Quiona face wash, just to remove any extra residue. Do not use this on your eyes though, it’s only meant to go on your face. (Coconut oil works wonders on removing eye makeup + coconut oil can help to strengthen and lengthen your lashes!)

2016-04-13 10.20.45

I love masks and do them as much as I can. This is Pacifica’s Pore Refine Deep Detox Mask. It’s a really thin consistency and smells absolutely amazing. It doesn’t feel tight or rough on the skin. After my face is washed, I apply this and leave it on for 20 mins. (They recommend leaving it for 5-20 mins, so I do 20 so I get the full effect.) This mask definitely works and makes my skin feel so smooth and helps to reduce the weird texture I have on some spots of my face. I highly recommend it. I also tried their Youthful Skin Scrub and I loved that too, so I might just need to buy everything from their line. (Can you blame me?)

2016-04-13 10.22.34

Then lastly, my favorite spot treatment! I’m sure you’ve heard of the old toothpaste on pimples trick, but that’s messy, can over dry the spot and is a pain, plus if anyone sees you, they might be concerned. I love love love this rollerball acne treatment from elf. It has witch hazel and tea tree oil in it to help reduce redness and dry out any problem areas. It says to apply it up to 3 times daily, don’t go overboard or you will have a dry patch. It’s also really convenient to just throw in your bag.

So that’s what I use to keep my skin in shape! My skin definitely isn’t perfect, very far from it, but using these products help me and my complexion.

I hope you enjoyed reading and maybe found a new product you want to try! Let me know what your skincare MUST have is in the comments below! <3 :0

Thanks so much for reading!!

Small Birthday Haul

by

Hey lovelies! Sorry for being MIA for a few days, I needed to get caught up with homework and I just needed some time to unwind.

So my 20th birthday was on Tuesday, and it’s so weird to think that I’m that old now (I know that’s not really that old, but dang). I didn’t have anything planned that day, besides going to class. I woke up early, took a shower, ate breakfast then went to class. My friends had asked me what I wanted to do which I thought was really sweet, because I was honestly just gonna spend my night watching YouTube videos or doing homework. I decided to go to the mall, since I just wanted to spend some money on myself (which is something that I do WAY too often). We went to Panera bread for dinner, I got the half kale chicken caesar salad, half sierra turkey sandwich, bread and an iced chai latte. The salad was amazing, as well as the sandwich which is always my favorite.

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 2.40.08 PM

After we finished eating, we went to Old Navy to browse, I wanted some new jeans since I’ve been sticking to alternating between 3 pairs now. They had some cute boyfriend jeans and a good sale on them, so I took them into the dressing room and I unfortunately hated how they looked on me. I’m super picky with clothing. I can go into TJ Maxx, grab 50 items, and only come out with 3 that I absolutely love. (I need to start only buying items that I love). After Old Navy, we went to Victoria’s Secret since I needed to replace two bras that were in bad shape, I luckily had a $20 gift card from Christmas so I only spent $25 on two bras and I’m so glad I did. They’re so much more comfortable than the others! We went to Pac Sun and Maurices where I couldn’t find anything I liked. We then went to Rue 21 where I tried on a few things and ended up with one dress that’s super cute and I can’t wait to wear. Then lastly, we went to Sephora so I could get my free birthday gift and while I was there, I may have splurged on an eyeshadow palette…

2016-04-13 10.25.53

My friend Rachel has the Natural Matte palette and she loves it, so I thought I would invest in it too. Too Faced has so many beautiful palettes, it was hard to choose which one I wanted. I love the Chocolate Bar palettes, but they were a little bit too expensive for me so I opted for this one. It has 9 gorgeous matte shadows that I can’t wait to play with. I was also able to get a Marc Jacobs sample gift, which has an eyeliner and lipstick. (I read online that Marc Jacobs does not test on animals before I went in to redeem my gift!)

2016-04-13 10.26.47 2016-04-13 10.27.15 2016-04-13 10.27.31

Ain’t she just so beautiful?! The palette had an eye look guide in it, and I like that its in trios so you can easily create a look with just the three colors or mix and match them.

2016-04-13 10.29.38 2016-04-13 10.30.05 2016-04-13 10.31.12

The lipstick from Marc Jacobs is a really pretty color and the eyeliner is a deep dark black. I’m excited to try these out.

So that’s what I got from the mall, but of course I had to do some online shopping. I picked up tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea foundation and concealer which should be arriving in the mail soon and I also picked up a Madam Glam one step Gel nail polish. I will definitely update you guys on these products and I’ll let you know if I like them!

Thank you for reading. What’s your favorite thing to do on your birthday? Let me know down below! <3

Hask Mint Almond Oil Collection | Review *

by

allIf you didn’t already know, I love Hask’s products. I did a ravin’ review on their Monoi Coconut Oil collection which you can check out here. I was able to try out the Mint Almond Oil collection and my expectations were high and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. I have ultra thin hair so when I noticed that these products had a Bio 3 thickening complex in them, I was even more thriller. It’s so hard for me to get volume in my hair and make it look full, so I was really hoping these products could help me out – and they did! All of the products were sent over in this adorable bag too, that I definitely will be traveling with.

First up, the shampoo and conditioner. They have a great minty smell and invigorate your scalp (just like the bottle says!) I can get a really nice lather with the shampoo and love the way it feels, it leaves me hair feeling refreshed after I rinse it out. I realllllllllly focus it on my roots to help add some volume. After I rinse it all out, I apply the conditioner mainly focusing on the ends, and then I take the little bit of excess and add it up closer to my roots. I leave it on for a little bit then rinse it out and it leaves my hair feeling so soft and smooth. These products don’t weigh your hair down, which I love.

hairspary

Next is the root thickening spray. Smells just like the shampoo and conditioner and I think the pop of color on the bottle is so cute. (Hask has such cute packaging, I love it). It says to use on towel dried hair and to focus it on your roots then blow dry your hair or you can use it on dry hair for an added lift. I’ve done both and I prefer to use it when I blow out my hair, just to add a little bit more volume. It also adds some nice texture which I like. The only downside with this product is that you can accidentally use too much, and it will cause some buildup at your roots. So I would start by using a little bit then work your way up until you find the right amount that works for you. It doesn’t make you feel or look greasy though, which is a great plus. I really like this stuff and I’m pleased with the volume it adds to my hair.

Overall, I highly recommend these products if you have thin, fine hair. They’re about the same price as the other collection I used and can be found at Ulta, Walmart, Walgreens and other stores.

Thanks for reading! Have you used these before or want to use them now? Let me know below 🙂
