Hey guys! Today’s post is the second installment in my series of how to go cruelty free on a budget. After you’ve taken care of your skin, you can start on your face of makeup, here are just some of inexpensive cruelty free foundations.
Silk Naturals is a 100% cruelty free online store and some of their products are vegan. They are mainly known for their Bare Necessities eyeshadows that are dupes for Urban Decays Naked palettes. The eyeshadows are a little pricey, but I’ve heard they’re totally worth it. Silk Naturals offers sample colors for their foundations so you can make sure that you’re getting a perfect match, you do have to pay for them, but they are about a dollar each and would be worth it since you wouldn’t have to worry about buying the wrong color! They have cream foundations and powders (which I’m assuming are sort of like bareminerals?) I personally have never used their products but have been wanting to get my hands on their cream foundation, especially if I know I’ll have the perfect shade for me. They also offer concealers, blushes, lippies, haircare and shadow pressing kits (since most of them come in pigment-like form).
Like I mentioned in the last post, e.l.f. has a LOT of great stuff for great prices. They have foundations, eyeshadows, blushes, contouring kits, brushes & more. It’s pretty much a one-stop shop for all of your makeup needs, especially if you’re on a budget. I haven’t used any of e.l.f.s foundations since their color range is limited but I’m sure they live up to the standard that I usually hold e.l.f.s products to.
Wet N Wild is an extremely affordable makeup brand, it’s usually sold at most drugstores. If you’re a beauty guru watcher like I am, you’ve probably noticed the “New at the Drugstore” hauls, I’ve been watching so many of them. I’ve noticed a lot of YouTubers featured Wet N Wild in their hauls, they were loving the blushes, highlight kits and their new brushes. I personally love their eyeshadow trios, I have “Walking on Eggshells” and use it when I want a nice shimmery eye look. I also love their lipsticks. I haven’t used any of their foundations (again, limited color options) but I hope that you can find one in your shade if you’re interested in trying them out!
Drew Barrymore teamed up with Walmart to create her own beauty line that is cruelty free. None of the products are vegan, but they are all cruelty free. This line is only available at select Walmarts and online. They have brushes, eyeshadows, blushes, mascaras, and foundations (in liquid, stick & powder form). I have the About Face Foundation in shade LF1 and I like the way it feels on the skin, not too sticky and not too cakey (I applied it with a brush – hoping a beauty sponge would apply it better). Although I bought the lightest shade, it was still a *tad* too dark for me and very yellow undertoned, I’m thinking about getting the Manic Panic white foundation to mix with it so I can get the right shade. It provides a nice amount of coverage for a drug store foundation, it’s a little bit pricer (about $14) but it’s worth it. I believe they have 14 shades, so you’re bound to find something close enough to your skin tone. I’m excited to try out some of Flower’s other products in the near future. 🙂
Physicians Formula is another drugstore foundation (pretty much all of these are, except Silk Naturals). Physicians Formula provides hypoallergenic, paraben free & gluten free products. I’ve used Physicians Formula mascaras and eyeshadows before but none of their foundations since they really only offer them in three shades (I’m seeing a pattern here?). They have BB creams, liquid foundations and powder foundations. They also have lots of other products offered too and makeup removers. They’re affordable and can be found at your local CVS or Walgreens, awesome right?
Thank you for reading and I hope you’re enjoying this little series so far!
Let me know if you’re enjoying it and if you’ve used and of these products before, I’d love to hear all about them.
P.S. Take a look at the last post in this series, here!
Xoxo,
Rae
